Birth Date: November 18, 1826.
He was born in Ames, Iowa. He was the youngest. He had an older brother, Ed.

Death Date: November 6, 1935. He died being ".... A GIANT FOR GOD"

Profession: Billy was an evangelist. He took this job up after he quit playing baseball for the Chicago White Socks.

Life: On his tombstone he had written “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” Billy lived a hard fought life with his father dying when he was just a month old. He was the youngest of his family and was always put to random jobs when he was a teenager. Sunday was a baseball player until he turned to Evangelism in 1910 when he met his wife, and life saver, Ma. She brought him into the Christian faith and stood by his side through the good and bad times. Billy Sunday became a preacher and spoke openly and wholeheartedly to everyone that entered his church. He lived by the saying: “Attempt Great Things for the Lord.” Billy wanted each and every person that he interacted with to take something away from his life. He truly did challenge himself and others to attempt to live their lives for God. He and his children fought to the end. Billy had 4 children, 3 boys and one girl. They had all reached their time spent on earth before they were 42. Billy still perservered through the tough times.

Achievements: William (Billy) was said to be the greatest speaker and preacher about God since John the Baptist walked the earth. He brought many people to Christ and lived a healthy and faithful life.

Education: Billy did not have much of an education. He was mostly being tossed back and forth between his mom's custody and his grandfather's. There was not much time to learn.

Quotation: "And the gospel must first be preached to all nations," (Mark 13:10). Billy strived to tell everyone the word of God and he also tried to live up to the expectations that God had set for his people.

Influences: He was influenced by God. Billy strived his hardest to do everything he could to put God before himself and to show other people what God could also do for them. He was also influenced by his brother. They were very close and Billy, as the younger of the two, wanted to be just like his big brother.

Comparison: Billy Sunday reminds me of my new assistant pastor at church. Nathan, my pastor, tells everyone he can about Christ Jesus just like Billy did. He also puts God in front of people and lets God control his life. The two of these men were very inspirational to me and they make me want to be more outspoken about my faith and about how God controls my life and what I do.
